Understanding 2 Types of Air Conditioning Coils

The air conditioner or heat pump coil transfers heat between the indoor and outdoor air. Coils are required in comfort cooling and refrigeration systems to permit the conversion of liquid refrigerant to a gas by the addition of heat and the reverse process to allow the absorption of heat by the refrigerant. In addition, they can be designed to eliminate moisture from the air. There are basically two types of air conditioner coils: evaporator coils and condenser coils. The proper training provides an understanding of what coils do and how they are constructed. Air Conditioning Repairs of Florida understands the maintenance required to extend the life of the coil performance.

The purpose of the evaporator coil is to cool, dehumidify, and remove moisture from the conditioned space. The condenser coil is designed to discharge the heat from the refrigeration process to the outside atmosphere. The air conditioner coil transfers heat in heating and air conditioning systems. For non-heat pump units, the condenser, or outdoor coil, discharges heat, and the evaporator, or indoor coil, absorbs heat. For heat pump units, however, the outdoor coil serves two purposes: discharging heat during the summer when the system is in the cooling mode and absorbing heat from the outdoor air during the winter when the unit is running in the heating mode. The coils can be constructed of copper, aluminum, or steel. Coils may also have different surface areas to allow maximum heat transfer according to the system’s requirements. Some of the treated surfaces are chemicals, coatings, and fin treatment, hydrophilic, and porosified. Some descriptive applications of the two coil types will demonstrate the constructive differences. These constructive differences have causative factors of evaporator coil damaging factors and air factors. Affordable air conditioning service near me will provide fast low-cost ac repairs.
